Ghat, is an ancient city, which is 1400km away from the capital, Tripoli, and is located in the western Libyan desert on the out skirts of the Libyan Algerian border. Ghat is an important tourist destination due to the presence of prehistoric rock paintings and inscriptions in the Tadrart Akakus Mountains, as well as the beauty of the surrounding desert landscape.
